Statewide video sessions
Online Therapy in Florida with a Miami-Based LMHC
I’m Isabel Wyss, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) based in Miami, and every session I offer happens over secure video. You can work with me from Pensacola to Key West, provided you’re physically in Florida when we meet.
Online therapy can sound like a compromise until you try it. For a lot of people it turns out to be the easier way to keep showing up: no drive, no lobby, and no chance a neighbor recognizes your car in a counselor’s parking lot.
Sessions are 50–60 minutes and $175. Before anything is booked, we have a free 15-minute consultation by phone or video, so you can ask your questions and hear how I work.

Who can book online therapy with me
I hold a Florida license, so the rule is simple: you need to be located in Florida at the time of each session. You might live here year-round, split the year between Florida and another state, or be studying at a Florida university. What counts is where you are sitting when the video call starts.
If you travel out of state for work or family, we move that appointment to a day when you are back. I work with adults in individual sessions, so couples, family, and child therapy are outside what I offer.
- You live in Miami-Dade, Broward, or Palm Beach County and would rather skip the drive.
- You live in a smaller Florida town where the few local therapists are also your neighbors, coworkers, or fellow parents at school.
- Your schedule has no room for a commute on top of a 50–60 minute session.
- You want to talk with a therapist in Spanish.
- You feel calmer opening up from your own room than from a stranger’s waiting area.
How a video session works
- 01Free consultationWe talk for 15 minutes by phone or video. You share what’s been happening, I describe my approach, and together we decide if it fits.
- 02Booking in the client portalIf you decide to go ahead, you choose a time in my secure SimplePractice portal. New clients add a card when booking, and appointments need at least 24 hours’ notice.
- 03Your first sessionYou receive a secure link to join the video call. The first hour is mostly about you: what brought you here, what you have already tried, and what you want to feel different.
- 04Ongoing sessionsFrom there we meet at a pace that suits your goals and budget, and we check in along the way about what is helping and what is not.
All sessions run on a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. You do not need any special software skills; if you can join a video call with family, you can join a session with me.
Privacy tips for therapy at home
The platform keeps the call secure, but the room you sit in matters too. A few small choices make it much easier to speak freely.
- Use headphones so my voice stays between us.
- Pick a spot with a door that closes, or let the people at home know you need an hour undisturbed.
- Run a fan or a white-noise machine outside the door if the walls are thin.
- Use a personal device instead of a work laptop that your employer manages.
- If home is crowded, a parked car can work well. Please never join a session while driving.
If someone walks in, we simply pause. We can also agree on a signal ahead of time, so I know to change the subject until you have the room to yourself again.
What you need for online sessions
- A laptop, tablet or phone that has a working camera and microphone
- An internet connection steady enough for a video call
- Headphones or earbuds, if you have them
- A comfortable seat where you can stay for the full hour
In our first session we agree on a backup plan, such as switching to a phone call if the video keeps freezing. That way a weak signal never costs you the session.
People sometimes ask if body-based work and EMDR can happen through a screen. They can. In EMDR, the bilateral stimulation can come from eye movements, tapping you do yourself, or sounds through your headphones. Somatic work relies on noticing breath, posture, and sensation, which you can do from any chair.
What I help with
Clients across the state come to me with very different stories. These are the areas I work with most:
- EMDR therapy, for memories that still feel like they are happening now
- Trauma therapy, including complex trauma that built up over years
- Anxiety therapy, for racing thoughts, a tight chest, and the habit of bracing for the worst
- Somatic therapy, for tension, shutdown, and feeling unsafe in your own body
- Burnout therapy, including compassion fatigue in caregivers and helpers
- Psychedelic integration therapy, for making sense of an experience that already happened (I do not provide or guide psychedelic use)
- Life transitions and cultural identity work, for moves, expat life, and questions of belonging
- Therapy in Spanish, with a Spanish-speaking therapist
I call my integrative approach The Return Home Framework. It draws on EMDR, somatic therapy, IFS-informed parts work, ACT, and mindfulness, and we use the pieces that fit you, adjusting as we go.
Cost and next steps
A 50–60 minute session is $175. Insurance options depend on your plan, so ask during your free consultation. The fees and insurance page has more detail.
When you are ready, book a free consultation through the client portal. Therapy isn’t an emergency service. For urgent help at any hour, call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to the closest emergency department.

Common questions
Can I see a Florida therapist online if I live in another state?
Only while you are physically in Florida. My license covers sessions with people located in Florida, so someone who spends the winter here can meet with me during those months. Once you are back in another state, you would need a therapist licensed there. We can talk through the timing during your free consultation.
Is online therapy as helpful as sitting in the same room?
For a lot of people, yes. What matters most is the fit between you and your therapist and how freely you can speak, and some people find that easier from their own space. If video ever starts to feel like a barrier, tell me, and we will look at what would help, including whether a different kind of care makes more sense.
What platform do you use for video sessions?
I use SimplePractice, a HIPAA-compliant practice platform. You book through my secure client portal and join each session with a secure video link. It works on a phone, tablet, or computer. If you have trouble connecting the first time, we can usually sort it out together in a few minutes.
How much does online therapy cost?
Each 50–60 minute session is $175, and the first 15-minute consultation is free. Insurance options depend on your plan, so ask during your free consultation. New clients add a card in the client portal when booking, and there is no charge for the consultation itself.
Do you offer therapy in Spanish?
Yes. I speak English and Spanish, and we can hold sessions in either language or move between the two. Some people find certain topics, like family history, easier to talk about in Spanish. You can tell me your preference when you book your free consultation.
What times are sessions available?
I have weekday and some evening times. My client portal shows current openings, and appointments need at least 24 hours’ notice. If nothing listed works for your schedule, mention it during your consultation and we can look at what is possible.
