Fort Lauderdale, by video
Online Therapist for Fort Lauderdale and Broward County
Driving from Fort Lauderdale to a therapist in Miami usually means I-95, and I-95 rarely cooperates. I’m Isabel Wyss, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in Miami, and I meet with adults in Broward County by secure video so the highway never comes into it.
You might live near Las Olas, in Victoria Park or Colee Hammock, or farther west toward Plantation. As long as you are in Florida during the session, we can work together from any spot where you have privacy.
A session lasts 50–60 minutes and costs $175. Before you book one, we have a free 15-minute call so you can judge whether I’m the right person for what you’re carrying.

Online only, so nobody sits in traffic
My practice has no physical location. All sessions are HIPAA-compliant video calls, which means you never have to trade the right match for a shorter drive.
For Broward residents who have looked at Miami-based clinicians and then given up because of the commute, this changes the math. An hour on screen stays an hour. There is no southbound crawl before the session and no northbound one after it.
It also means a bad day on the road never becomes a missed appointment. If an accident shuts down Federal Highway, you still log on from home at the usual time.
Making room for therapy in a Fort Lauderdale week
You can choose from weekday and some evening times. People fit sessions in at very different points in the day, depending on work, kids, and how much privacy they have at home.
- A midday session from a parked car in your building’s garage, with a sunshade up and the phone on a mount
- An early evening hour at home, once you are back and the door is shut
- A session in a home office on a remote workday, before the afternoon meetings start
- A closed-door room at work, if you trust the privacy there
Wherever you are, a set of headphones and a steady connection are the main things you need. The first time we meet, I will walk you through joining so it feels routine by the second session.
Privacy when your circles overlap
Even in a city this size, social and work circles overlap, especially if you grew up in Broward or work in a field where everyone seems to know everyone. Running into a coworker in a therapist’s parking lot is the kind of thing that keeps people from starting.
Working with a therapist based in Miami puts a little distance between your sessions and your daily life. Add video from your own space, and there is no shared waiting room and no chance meeting at the door.
If you live with family or roommates, a few habits help: headphones, a door that closes, and a quick text to the house that you are unavailable for the hour. If someone does walk in, we pause and pick up where we left off.
What Broward clients come to me for
- EMDR therapy, when a car accident, a frightening event, or an older wound keeps replaying in your body
- Anxiety therapy, for constant worry, a stomach in knots, and lying awake replaying a conversation
- Grief counseling, after the loss of a parent, partner, friend, or a future you had planned on
- Burnout therapy, for the person who keeps saying yes at work and has nothing left by the weekend
- Trauma therapy, including patterns from childhood that still shape how safe you feel with people
- Individual therapy, for low mood, relationship and family patterns, and self-esteem
In substance use and addiction treatment settings and in community mental health, I worked as a primary therapist, and in addiction treatment also as a clinical supervisor, with people facing trauma, anxiety, grief, addiction, and big life transitions. I am trained in EMDR and Ketamine-Assisted EMDR (KA-EMDR®), and I am an Integrated Somatic Trauma Practitioner through The Embody Lab.
Underneath several of these concerns is a nervous system that has been on guard for a long time. Part of our work is helping your body learn that it can stand down, so calm becomes something you can find again when you need it.
I also speak Spanish, so sessions can happen in English, Spanish, or a mix of both.

Common questions
Are you a therapist in Fort Lauderdale?
I am based in Miami and licensed in Florida, and I work with Fort Lauderdale residents through online sessions only. There is no office in Broward or Miami-Dade. You join a secure video call from home, a parked car, or another private place in Florida, and we meet for 50–60 minutes.
Can EMDR work over video from home?
Yes. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation, and online that can mean following eye movements on screen, tapping on your own shoulders or knees, or listening to alternating sounds through headphones. We spend time first on building steadiness and coping tools, so you have a way to settle before we work with harder memories.
Do you accept insurance?
Private pay is $175 for a 50–60 minute session. Insurance options depend on your plan, so ask during your free consultation. The fees and insurance page explains what to expect, and you are welcome to bring any questions about cost to the call.
What happens if I travel or move out of Florida?
I can only meet with you while you are physically in Florida. If a trip falls on your usual day, we can move the session to a time when you are back. If you move to another state for good, I will help you think through finding a therapist licensed where you live.
How soon can I get an appointment?
Openings change from week to week, and my client portal shows what is available right now. Appointments need at least 24 hours’ notice, and I have weekday and some evening times. The free 15-minute consultation is usually the quickest first step, since it lets us check fit before you hold a full session.
