Coral Gables & Coconut Grove

Online Therapist for Coral Gables and Coconut Grove

Coral Gables and Coconut Grove sit only a few miles apart, and both have a way of looking calm from the outside. I’m Isabel Wyss, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in Miami, and I meet with adults from both neighborhoods by secure video.

I earned my undergraduate degree at the University of Miami, so these streets are familiar to me. My practice is fully online, though, with no office to drive to, which leaves more of your day for everything else.

Sessions are 50–60 minutes and cost $175. First comes a free 15-minute consultation, so you can decide if working together makes sense before you commit to anything.

Sessions are online only, and that can help

I want to be upfront: I do not see clients in person. Every appointment takes place on a HIPAA-compliant video platform, and you join from wherever you are in Florida.

For people who live or work around the Gables, that removes what is often the hardest part of therapy, which is getting there. A trip along US-1 at five o’clock can eat half an hour before you have said a word. When the session is on your laptop, you close the screen afterward and you are already home.

In the Grove, the streets are narrow and finding parking can be a project of its own. Skipping that hunt is a small relief, and over months of sessions it adds up.

Privacy when everyone knows everyone

Coral Gables can feel like a small town inside a big city. You see the same faces on Miracle Mile, at the grocery store, at school drop-off, and at work. For some people, that is the exact reason they have put off therapy: they do not want to be seen walking into a counselor’s building.

With video sessions, nobody watches you arrive. You choose the room, shut the door, and put in your earbuds. If you live with parents, grandparents, or grown children, an hour of quiet at home can be hard to find, and a shaded parking spot on your lunch break works just as well.

What people here often come to me for

The concerns I hear from this part of Miami-Dade tend to sit underneath busy, accomplished lives. These are the services people ask about most:

  • Anxiety therapy, for the person whose calendar looks perfect and whose mind will not stop running at 2 a.m.
  • Burnout therapy, for people in demanding careers who have been over-functioning for years and now feel empty
  • EMDR therapy, when an old memory still sets off the same reaction it did a decade ago
  • Life transitions and cultural identity work, for those who moved here from another country or are raising children between two cultures
  • Therapy in Spanish, for anyone who finds certain feelings easier to say in Spanish
  • Somatic therapy, for the jaw that stays clenched and the shoulders that seem to live up near your ears

Questions of belonging are close to my own story. I have Swiss and Spanish roots, grew up as an expat in Dubai, and moved to Miami in 2015.

Fitting therapy around a Gables workday

  1. 01Book a free consultationChoose a 15-minute phone or video slot in my client portal. Tell me a little about what is happening and what you hope will change.
  2. 02Pick a regular timeMy schedule includes weekday and some evening times. Some people hold on to a lunch-hour slot, while others prefer the end of the day once work is behind them.
  3. 03Join from somewhere privateYour home, a parked car, or a closed-door room at work all count, as long as you are in Florida and can speak without being overheard.
  4. 04Adjust as you goWe look at what is working every so often and change the plan when your needs change.

University of Miami students, faculty, and staff are welcome too. Sessions with me are separate from campus services, which some people appreciate when they would rather keep therapy apart from school or work.

How I work

My approach looks for the roots under the symptoms: trauma imprints, beliefs you absorbed early, a nervous system stuck on high alert, or emotional needs that never got met. I call this integrative way of working The Return Home Framework.

It blends EMDR, somatic therapy, IFS-informed parts work, ACT, and mindfulness. I don’t diagnose from a distance or hand you a script. We work it out together, at a pace your body can keep up with.

Cost, insurance, and booking

Each session is 50–60 minutes and $175. Insurance options depend on your plan, so ask during your free consultation.

Common questions

Do you have an office in Coral Gables or Coconut Grove?

No. I am based in Miami, but every session happens over secure video, and there’s no office to visit. You can meet with me from home, from work, or from anywhere else in Florida where you have privacy and a steady connection. That usually saves the drive time on both ends of the hour.

Can University of Miami students book sessions with you?

Yes, if you are an adult and you are in Florida at the time of each session. Video sessions can fit between classes and keep therapy separate from campus life. I am not part of the university’s counseling services, so sessions are $175 each, and any insurance questions are handled during the free consultation.

What times can I book?

I offer weekday and some evening times. Open slots appear in my client portal, and you need to book at least 24 hours ahead. If you would like the same lunch-hour or after-work slot each week, it helps to book a few sessions ahead.

Can our sessions be in Spanish?

Yes. I speak Spanish and English, and you are welcome to use whichever language feels more natural, or both in the same session. Some people grew up speaking Spanish at home and find that early memories and family topics come more easily in that language. Let me know your preference in the free consultation.

Is it strange to have therapy from my car?

Plenty of people do it. A parked car can be one of the few private places in a full day. Park somewhere safe and shaded, silence your notifications, and use headphones. Please do not join while driving; if you are still on the road when it is time, pull over first.
